I'm Going to Make My Phone Last
I bought a new phone recently and I'm committed to making it last.
Aside from my Pokémon Go days, I've never really been a power phone user. I've always looked for the cheapest annual prepaid mobile plans and it was common for me to finish the period with most of the mobile data unused; some years I'd end with only 5GB used. (That's not to say that I didn't use the phone much at all; I was often connected to Wi-Fi instead.) I didn't really ever do much computationally intensive which has kept the battery nice and healthy. I even used a Chargie before Android released the battery charging limit feature in Android 15.

So why did I buy a new phone recently? I cracked the bottom of the screen about a year ago while hiking and I've been putting up with it since then. It's been working fine most of the time but I started to get concerned when I was hiking in the rain recently and the screen didn't want to turn on a few times due to moisture getting near the cracks. No, I didn't have a screen protector nor did I even think to get one when I got the phone.
With that said, I've now had my new phone for about a week now encased in a "tough armour" case and, yes, a screen protector. I'm posting this as a declaration to make this phone last which I failed to do with the last one.
